A Solider Of God

Archbishop Philip Hannan

Chaplain Charles Watters was so casual about combat that he could write home, "I like to go on combat missions, it gives me some excercise." He was at home with "his boys" at every place in their lives, but neer more at hoe than in the places of the worst combat and the greatest danger. These actions were enlivened by a faith that brought more than human strength - It was the inner peace of a man, dedicated to God, whose grace flowed through him to them. He was a beloved, brave, soldier's chaplain for his country and "his boys", because he was above all- A Soldier of God.
